Free Personalized Internet Radio

Here’s a service which definitely gets my “two thumbs up”.  Pandora.com is an Internet Radio program that creates music playlists based on an artist of your choosing.  The best part is that it’s absolutely Free.

Pandora.com provides endless new music and is extremely easy to use.   The first thing you do is to type in the name of any of your favorite artists, songs or classical composers.

Pandora then quickly being playing their music and then continues to play music from similar artists and songs of similar styles.  Pandora calls this creating a station.  You get a seemingly endless playlist.  It’s great!

While the songs are playing, you have the option to rate the song you are listening to, bookmark the song or artist, create a new station, purchase music, and look up more information on the artist or song you are listening to from Pandora’s database.

I started with Kirk Franklin, Pandora then gave me music from Fred Hammond, J. Moss, Donnie McClurkin, and whole bunch of my favorites artists.

After a while I clicked on “create a new station” and entered Chris Tomlin.  Pandora did an excellent job of introducing me to Third Day,  Caedmon’s Call, Lenny Leblanc, Casting Crowns and several others.  There were a few songs I didn’t like so I just skipped to the next song.

I now have 2 playlists, (or stations) one for fast praise music and another for slow worship.  Pandora lets you create up to 100 stations, WOW!

Since I created a free account, which took only about 1 minute, I now can log in anytime, from any computer with internet access and select either my fast or slow radio playlist.  Pretty cool stuff, don’t you think?

If you have a good stereo at home, connect an FM Transmitter to your computer, tune your radio to it and whoala! you got your your favorite Christian music streaming to your entire house.  This will work in your home, office, church and even in your car.  For details click here.

Pandora radio also works on the iPhone.

Just start with the name of one of your favorite artists, songs or classical composers and Pandora will create a “station” that plays music by this genre and more music like it.  Pandora on the iPhone is fully integrated with Pandora on the web.  Enjoy all your existing stations – and create new ones right from your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Get Christian Videos on your PDA or Smartphone Free!

Are you ready to download your favorite Gospel Videos from YouTube or Google Video to your PDA or smart phone?

iPhone

Wouldn’t you like to take YouTube videos from Chris Tomlin, Salvador, Kirk Franklin or Bryan Duncan with you on your phone?  Well, now you don’t have to wait till you get to your computer to worship with them.

For PC users all you need to do is download Save2PC. Yes, it’s Free.  Save2PC is a free program that downloads videos from Youtube or Google Video and saves them as Avi or Mpeg files.  No need to use scripts for web browsers.

Just enter a URL of a video into the program and press start to download your AVI, MPEG or FLV file to the selected folder.  Save2PC easily downloads files from YouTube and Google Video, and it is free from any type of registration, popups, adwares, spywares or malwares.

For Mac users all you need is TubiTunes (and Mac OS X 10.5 or later).  TubiTunes is free during the trial period but after that is only $4.95.  TubiTunes lets you download web videos to your iTunes library with just one click.

TubiTunes not only works with YouTube but also works with several other popular web video sites like: CollegeHumor, DailyMotion, Google Video, Metacafe, and many more.  It can also download MP3 files from MySpace, plus you can download local movie files to your iPhone / iPod.   You can even download higher-quality mpeg-4 videos from youtube.com, if they are available.

The next time you need some good Gospel music videos, you now know what to do and how to do it.  You can really get creative if after you download your favorite Christian music to your computer, hook up your pc (it’s probably easiest with a laptop) to your flat screen TV (get the adapter from your favorite electronics store) and let them all play durring your next fellowship at the house.

If you want to show Christian Music videos at church just hook up your laptop (with all of the downloaded videos of course) to a projector and show them on your big screen (or wall).

While your thinking about who do download first, check out: GodTube.com316muzik.com, the Urban Gospel Video Directory and the Top 10 Worship Videos. For more Christian music click here.

Here’s my favorite YouTube Video from Chris Tomlin, How Great is Our God. Enjoy!  By the way if you really enjoyed this post you will definitely like this one.

Learn to Share the Gospel on your Palm

Do you know how to share your faith?

Download a FREE little program (for your Palm PDA) and learn how to present the Gospel in an effective biblically based manner.

The program comes from Evangelism Explosion.  I like its ease of use and the creativity of the program. The program asks 2 simple questions, “Do you know for certain that you are going to be with God in heaven?” and ‘Why should God let you into his heaven?” It’s a clear cut interactive presentation of the Gospel.  The presentation is also available online here.

evangelism explosion
Use it to learn how to share the Gospel or install it on your Palm PDA then lend it to a friend so he can go through the presentation.   Click here to download the Free program.    Basically it’s a Gospel Tract for Palm OS Handhelds.

Evangelism Explosion (EE) International is reaching out to teach the world how to evangelize.   This free download shows you an easy, effective and biblical way to share your faith using a Palm PDA.

How do you respond when someone asks about your faith in God, in Christ, your belief in Heaven and Hell, in the Bible? Do you become defensive, do you fight, go into combat mode, become intimidated?  None of these extremes are necessary nor are they appropriate.  Check out EE’s  Answers to Tough Questions for some pretty good responses for those who are skeptical and may question your faith.

If you want to learn more about sharing your faith check out this FREE four-session course by ChristianBible Studies.com called, Sharing Your Faith.  It looks at the apostle Paul’s life, and his advice in the book of 1 Thessalonians to help us overcome our uncertainties and fears about sharing our faith.

30 Day Guide For New Believers

Global Media Outreach (A ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ) has put together a web site that provides a Free 30 day guide for new believers.   What I really like is their easy to remember domain name:  LookUntoJesus.com

look unto jesus

look unto jesus

The site also contains 6 easy steps for people who have recently given their life to Christ or are renewing their faith in Christ.  Each day, they have noted, there are over 1 million internet searches, from people all around the world, for spiritual terms like “I need God”…”Who is Jesus” …”prayer”, etc.  Their goal is to reach these people for Christ through cutting edge and emerging technologies.

They also provide online small groups, live chat sessions and several “how to” booklets that teach the basic truths about the Christian life.   Written by Dr. Bill Bright, the late founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, these “Transferable Concepts” are designed to present Christian truths that you can learn and then share with others.

If you are looking for a good site for new believers, check out:  LookUntoJesus.com presenting the good news of Jesus Christ over the Internet.

Got Small Groups?

If you have a lot of Bible Study Groups in your church (sometimes called small groups, life cell groups, ministry teams etc.) you know how challenging it can be to manage all of the information involved (structure, enrollment, attendance, etc.)  If you’re tired of all the paperwork required to track your church small groups let ChurchTeams help.

church reams

Church Teams is a web based program that empowers your leaders to update and use the information they need in order to enhance the quality of your small group’s communication, coaching, and tracking.  The beauty of ChurchTeams.com is that the entire program is available from any computer with internet access.  Some of the other features include:

  • Easy integration with your church website in minutes.
  • Built in mapping and filtering make it easy for people to find the best group for them.
  • Group leaders receive automatic e-mail reminders to post group attendance and notes each week.
  • Administrators and leaders can quickly generate attendance, absentee, and other reports.
  • Leaders, group members, and people not yet in groups can be e-mailed directly.
  • Five layers of security ensure that your data is safe.

We recently have started using this program at my church and I like it a lot.  Church Teams allows group leaders to post their attendance and group notes from their home or workplace over the Internet.  Leaders can even use it to communicate to their whole group.  This weekly update can help even the infrequent attenders feel connected and helps coaches and pastors know the condition of their groups better than ever before.  Check them out at ChurchTeams.com

Introduction to the Old Testament

What is really nice is that you can read the class notes, listen to the lecture or watch it being taught right from own your computer.

Kidology – For anyone working in children’s ministry

According to Barna Research the probability of accepting Christ is much greater among children, than by teens and adults. In children between the ages of 5 and 13 the probability of accepting Christ is 32%. It drops to 4% for those between the ages of 14 and 18, and picks up to only 6% for the rest of life. The ripest field is children!

If you work in children’s ministry or know someone who does, introduce them to KIDOLOGY, – It’s for anyone working in children’s ministry:

http://www.kidology.org/

Kidology helps to equip and encourage those who minister to children.   They do this through their website, and through providing practical training, creative teaching resources, and personal consultation.

Kidology, in its simplest form, means “the study of kids.” In a broader sense it is a call to children’s ministers to approach ministry to children from within the context of the culture of children. As a missionary first learns the culture of the lost he hopes to reach the lost, the “Kidologist,” or student of “kidology,” seeks to first understand today’s kid and culture before attempting to reach them, so that they can be reached creatively and effectively.

Just as the Apostle Paul became “all things to all men, so that by all possible means I might save some,” (I Cor. 9:22b) the student of kidology seeks to customize his or her message so that children will be drawn to it, understand it, and accept it.  There is a great need to equip volunteers to do this.  Visit: http://www.kidology.org/
