Free Ebook Reader – Vyrso

Who needs another ebook reader?  That’s what I thought when I first heard of Vyrso.  After a little time I realized that Vyrso is not just another reader.  If you like reading (on your Android device or iPad) you will enjoy Vyrso.

What separates Vyrso from other ebook readers is this, “one-touch Bible reference”.  In other words if the book you are reading includes a Bible verse, you can tap the scripture and it is opens up for you.  With a simple touch, Vyrso shows you the Bible passages that your ebooks reference.  This is a wonderful timesaver, allowing you to read the Bible along with your favorite Christian authors’ ebooks.  Plus their cross-library search tool helps you find what every ebook in your bookshelf says about a given topic; you can find the quotes and passages you want in no time!

If you are a Logos Bible Software or Biblia.com user, (I’ll review them both later)  Vyrso connects all the books in your library, enabling you to make connections you never knew possible.  Very nice!  You can now integrate all of your Logos Bible study materials with your leisure and personal reading.

Vyrso offers a broad selection of ebooks written by Christians for Christians.  The Vyrso experience brings readers the best Christian titles on any mobile device, providing a virtual Christian bookshelf that goes wherever you go.  I’ve been using Vyrso for several weeks now and I am enjoying it.

The best part is that Vyrso is free and comes with a free King James Version of the Bible!  Download Vyrso on your mobile device from the App Store or the Android Market.

Here’s a video clip that describes how Vyrso works on Android devices.  To see the video clip for an iPad click here.

Answering Athiests – Free Ebook

Here’s a free ebook by Hank Hanegraaff, president of the Christian Research Institute, entitled, “Answering Athiests, What Every Christian Should Know“.   His daily radio program helps to equip believers defend their faith against errors and false teachers.

I downloaded this “question and answer” book myself and find its 33 pages very easy to understand, although I did have to re-read a few paragraphs.   Questions include:

*  Are the Bible manuscripts reliable?
*  Does the Bible promote slavery?
*  Is there evidence for life after death?
*  If Christianity is true, why are so many atrocities committed in the name of Christ?
*  Who made God?
*  Is the Big Bang biblical?
*  Is Intelligent Design really a choice?
…and a whole bunch more.

Oneplace.com also has a huge selection of question and answers called, Biblical Answers to Life Questions here.  Check them out.

Both of these resources can come in handy for Bible study, group discussion, for individual reference but mostly to be able to answer some of the tough questions that are many times asked of us.

Did you know that it’s biblical for a man to make coffee? It sure is.  A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning. The wife said, ‘You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don’t have to wait as long to get our coffee.’ The husband said, ‘ You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee.’ Wife replies, ‘No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee.’ Husband replies, ‘I can’t believe that, show me.’ So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says……….’HEBREWS’.

A little more on the serious side, there’s a new book out called, “When God goes to Starbucks“.  It’s written by Paul Copan.

In it Paul offers readers solid and caring Christian responses to questions people ask about faith that are being discussed in Starbucks, shopping malls, youth groups, and schools.

Each chapter provides succinct answers and points for countering the cultural questions believers are faced with today.

I recently read a very intriguing article relating to coffee and glorifying God.  I think you might like it. Here ya go.:   How to Glorify God While Drinking a Cup of Coffee.
